LEAVING HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME

The day came when I had to say goodbye to my friends and family, I couldn't hold back the tears in my eyes, my heart was thorn into million pieces. Seeing my aunties and cousins and my very close friends coming to hug me and saying their goodbyes I burst into tears and cried my eyes out.

They were all I have and all that I know, how can I move to another country let alone Canada where not a lot of Papua New Guineans travel to or stayed at. I couldn't  believe that I was really leaving home.

Before we  could board the plane ✈, I saw my granddad walking towards me, he came and hugged me and cried , I never felt this much pain in my heart. I hugged him back and we both cried and said our goodbyes. I was raised by my grandparents, and leaving them behind and moving away was kind of hard to do.

After boarding the plane I heard the air hostess's  voice through the pa system, giving instructions  and I knew this was it, I'm really leaving home. I looked out the window  and saw it was raining, tears kept coming down my eye and I cried myself to sleep the whole flight through.

When we got to Manila Philippines I looked out the window and saw the city lights and and it ease my mind a little bit. It was so beautiful that I almost forgot that I was sad.

After long twenty-four hours in Manila we finally boarded another plane and came here in Canada.
For the first two weeks or so I couldn't come out of bed ,I  was feeling so miserable and sad and I thought of asking my mom if it was ok if I could go back to Papua New Guinea with my Aunt, but I just couldn't bring my self to do it, I didn't want to be selfish.

And besides I am the oldest and I should be brave for my two younger siblings, cause it was also their first time having to leave everything and everyone they know too to move to a foreign country.

So what I'm trying to say is that  leaving home for the first time can be scary and sad but once you realize that there are other people who go through the same thing you did, will make you feel that you are not alone in this kind of situation.
